Sharing Music
Several Milder Musical Arts students gave up one Sunday afternoon to share their musical talents with the residents of Surrey Place, a nursing facility of St. Luke's Hospital. Students who participated were: Hamaad Raza, Maggie Lessel, Jonah Kavadlo, Patrick Andrew, Joshua Kazdan, Francis Ntimba, Tamar Lerner, Allie Wills, Jack Schweizer, Samantha Villagomez, Rebecca Comas, Devin Hyatt, Emma Comas, Chrissa Comas and Jason Wan.
These students put together a musical review, including such hits as Sweet Betsy from Pike to The Sound of Music to Rockin' Robin. The residents clapped to the beat and sang along to some of the songs. Overall, the students felt a sense of pride and accomplishment and the residents were delighted with some afternoon music.
One resident commented with a tear in her eye: "They're just so sweet!"
Well done to the students, their families, and their teacher!

teacher tidbits:
Adam Bock
Milder Musical Arts welcomes Adam Bock to our teaching faculty.
Adam received his Bachelor of Music in Composition from Webster University, with an emphasis in voice and piano. An active musician since age 13, Adam has been a part of countless vocal ensembles ranging from classical concert choirs to small a capella groups, vocal jazz to barbershop. He has been writing, singing and playing piano with a local rock band, Riverton, for about 6 years and recently lent his administrative talents to the Kirkwood Community Theatre program, where he served as Music Director. He was employed at Kirkwood by the very same director with whom he spent his teenage years performing musicals at Notre Dame High School.
Adam currently performs with the Ambassadors of Harmony and a local church choir, and does a great deal of composing on his own time.
Adam teaches voice, piano, composition, theory and jazz studies. He is a specialist in chording, jazz chording and accompaniment styles for singers. Adam teaches private lessons and small classes.

In The Family
The Meadows family has been at Milder Musical Arts since 2006 and have really blossomed into wonderful musicians over the years. Because of their love for music and theatre, they have seized several opportunities to perform throughout the community.
Sara Meadows, a 6th grade voice student with Jamie Shaw, performed with Spotlight Productions in Jesus Christ Superstar back in June.
Big brother, Adam, a 10th grade voice student with Matt Safley, performed Once Upon a Mattress in August with the Marble Stage Theatre Company.
Eldest sister, Erin, a senior voice student with Adam Bock, has been cast in her school's production of the Fantasticks. Both Sara and Erin will perform in Variety Children's Theatre production of Oliver! in October. Erin is also considering major in Musical Theatre or Acting when she heads off to college next year.
Best wishes to each of you in all your future pursuits!
