Group Music Classes
Piano: 1st & 2nd Grade
First and Second Grade students who have never had formal piano training thrive in this fun and energetic class.
This 55 minute class, taken with a parent/caregiver through the first few months, introduces students to the basics of music, rhythm, note reading in treble and bass clef, singing, ear training, and ensemble playing. Within three months, they are playing hands together and are beginning to learn chords.
This chord based approach to music allows the focus to be on making the student a well rounded musician who can then take the music theory that they know and apply it to the instrument of their choice. While it is not mandatory to remain in the group program for a long time, most group classes tend to stay together for many years. Part of this is due to the fact that classes are continuing, therefore, a student cannot pause his lessons and rejoin the same class a few months later. Students who complete the group program play at an intermediate - late intermediate level and understand music theory to such a degree that they are able to transpose, accompany, sightsing, analyze music, compose and so much more.
If you are interested in the group program but are unavailable during our scheduled times, please contact the office. If enough families can come to a different time, we will try to open up another class.
Students will need a 1" three ring binder and a tote bag. Bags are also available for purchase through Milder Musical Arts.
When tuition is received enrollment is processed and commitments are made to teachers. At that time, tuition becomes non refundable and non transferable.
